After getting inside and scaring some locals who were their they turned out quite helpfull. Told us bits about the place and how they used to get pi**ed in their and when the main hall was burnt to the ground by vandals. We saw them various times and were sat outside with a police scanner, When we were in the front of the building we saw a white citeroen van enter which was abit worrying but found out that it was the farmer going to his sheep.
Bit of the history;
The North Wales Hospital (Denbigh Asylum) was built between 1844 and 1848 and was the first Lunatic Asylum in Wales. After various expansions and overcrowding in other sites Denbigh at full capacity had 1,500 patients and 1,000 staff. In 1960 Enoch Powell the Minister of Health visited Denbigh and this was the start of the end for Denbigh.
Due to its size a 10 year programme was put in place to shut Denbigh in 1987, The Main building was shut down in 1995 and the whole site in 2002.
Like alot of places its very bare inside, Shame its just left to rot...

We drank a good few bottles of water when we got back to the car and burnt my arms in the process then cained it in the car over the mountains home! Happy days...
